Eily White
The high esteem in which Eily White was held was manifest in the huge congregation present at her Funeral Mass in Holy Cross Church. Lady Captain in 1963 and Trustee for over 25 years1 Eily made an enormous contribution to the Club. Gathering together a group of young helpers she ran the Bar and catering providing Refreshments for visiting Socities, worked long into many nights with 21st BIrthdays and other parties when her profits were sufficient to provide new Locker Rooms for the Club. She was also keen on the Social life and on every Thursday night throughout the Winter months she and her friends engaged in a hilarious yet very serious game of 45
She also took a keen interest in following Club teams particularly the J B Carr team during the glory years of 202/4 when they won three All Ireland’s and Eily could be seen not only at the Cork and Munster games but at all three All Ireland’s in Wooden Bridge. Apart from her Golfing interests Eily made a great contribution to Charleville Community life being a founder member of the Credit Union. She was also so well known in Holy Cross Church being a daily Mass goer, a minister of the Eucharist and a weekly adorer at the Altar of Repose.
Club Captain Jim Crowley and five former Captains
