Lady Captains Outing to Dromoland Castle.

Forty four ladies travelled to Dromoland Castle on Sunday for the outing of the Lady Captain, Imelda O’Hanlon. Unfortunately the weather on the day was very wet and the players had to be called in when the course became unplayable – only eight ladies managed to play 18 holes. When they dried out the Ladies had a very enjoyable meal in the clubhouse . This event ( golf only ) has been rescheduled for Sunday 3rd September . Will people who are interested in playing again please put their names down on a timesheet in the locker room by Saturday 26th August .

 

Duhallow Shield

The second leg of the Duhallow Shield was played in Doneraile Golf Club on Friday. Unfortunately the Charleville Ladies were up against a very strong team from Kanturk and they were beaten in all three matches. Manager Joan Dore thanked the Charleville team of Catherine McCarthy, Anne Gleeson, Margaret Cashman , Careen Horwood, Helen Cronin and Betty Coughlan.

 

Eleanor Tivey Competition

Best of Luck to Mary Howard, Hilary O’Dwyer and Anne Gleeson who will represent Charleville in the Eleanor Tivey Competition in Thurles on 30th August.

 

Support Cancer Competition

A cheque for €450 was presented to Michelle Murphy from the Mercy Hospital Foundation in Cork. This was the proceeds from a competition held in the Club. Michelle explained what the Foundation did and said the money would be put towards a new care unit for families affected by cancer
