Congratulations to Phil Curtin, winner of Golfer of the Year 2018. Phil joined Charleville Golf Club in 2011 and she has progressed since then to be a talented golfer who now plays off 19 handicap. Phil won the Club Day competition earlier on in the year and since then had a number of top three finishes in the main competitions. Going in to the last competition Phil was 5 points clear of Imelda O’Hanlon who herself had a fantastic playing year so it all depended on the result that day . As it turned out Imelda came 2nd and Phil 3rd but third place gave her enough points to beat Imelda by just three points. Phil has been runner up before in this competition so well done to her for achieving her goal this year. Phil is a great team player and has represented the Club on numerous occasions, most recently on the successful Mixed team this summer. David O’Sullivan presented the Mae O’Sullivan Perpetual Trophy, in memory of his mother, to Phil at the prize giving in the clubhouse on Sunday 14th October.
