Request From Golf Ireland Munster Region 10 Feb 2021

Golf Ireland Munster Region

The Golf Ireland Munster Regional Executive Committee seeks Expressions of Interest from members of affiliated clubs in Munster to assist it in filling the five Sub Committees of the region and to develop an extended Volunteers Panel to support the work of these committees.

We would like to seek the assistance of Clubs in promoting this process to its membership, by sharing this email to its membership database. Applications will be accepted directly from the interested individuals themselves and they do not require a separate nomination from their Home Club. There are two options as follows:

Munster Region Sub-Committees
The following are the areas in which Sub Committees are being filled:-
– Handicapping
– Course Rating
– Championships
– Rules of Golf
– Junior Development

The minimum criteria to be eligible for appointment are as set out in the accompanying extract from the Terms of Reference for Sub Committees and Volunteer policy for Golf Ireland. Each of these Sub Committees shall have six members inclusive of a Chairperson, who shall be a member of the elected Regional Executive Committee.

Munster Region Volunteers Panel
Any unsuccessful applicant for a position on a Regional sub-committee will be considered for a position on a volunteer panel in that area, should they wish to take up such a position.

In addition, club members can apply to be part of a volunteers panel directly, without having to put their name forward to serve on a regional sub-committee.

It is envisaged that volunteer panels will be required in the same areas namely; Handicapping, Course Rating, Championships, Rules of Golf and Junior Development. In the case of the Handicapping and Course Rating, a Lead Handicapping Advisor and Lead Course Rater respectively will be required for each administrative zone.

Applicants shall clearly state their name, home club, contact details and the Sub Committee(s) for which they are applying. Applicants are strongly encouraged to provide a short bio of no more than 100 words outlining their skills and experience. All applications will be circulated to the five members of the Regional Nominations Subcommittee, chaired by Jim Long, Chairperson of the Regional Executive Committee. This Sub Committee shall then review and nominate candidates to the Regional Executive Committee for approval.

Applications are to be sent to by email to by 5pm on Friday 19th February 2021.
