Club Update Saturday 2nd May 2020

All Menbers

We hope you are well and keeping safe in these strange times. With hints that some non contact sports may be allowed resume in the near future we would like to update you on a few matters.

The course is looking very well and is being maintained by our green keeper Peter Byrne and staff. The greens have been hollowtined and sanded, fairways and roughs mowed continually, it’s in great condition – wouldn’t it be lovely to go out and play a few holes!!!!!. If we do get the go ahead soon it will undoubtedly be different as social distancing will have to be observed at all times – a list of ‘rules’ will be drawn up for all players to obey etc. when reopening occurs.

Obviously the lockdown has had an adverse impact on our income streams with no competition entry fees, no green fees, no society fees but we still have the cost of running the club i.e. employee wages, diesel, chemicals, fertiliser, sand etc. so membership subscriptions are very important for the clubs financial well-being this year, so if you havent paid/arranged for this year yet, if you can please do so as soon as possible, for those who have paid we thank you for your promptness.

The lotto draw is suspended as it must take place in an open transparent and witnessed manner but with the clubhouse closed this is not possible. Tony and his teams will reactivate it as soon as is practical.

We have had a number of new member applications this year so far which is good news, with other sports in lockdown you may have family or friends who would like to play let us know & we’ll provide application forms.

If and when golf is allowed to resume there will be restrictions applied by the authorities, for instance – members only allowed, no competitions, prior booking arrangements with players contact details to be provided etc. these and other measures for contact tracing purposes will be necessary as well as social distancing obligations as mentioned above. The restaurant and bar will have to remain closed until the authorities relax their rules & very restricted office opening if any.

It therefore looks as it will be a bit different but to get out and play will be a bonus after being deprived of it.
We hope to see you all enjoying your golf again soon.
